Seaside Shenanigans and a Retro Draft Excluder

Hello, hello.
We enjoyed a lovely bank holiday Monday.
We packed up the car and headed to the coast.
My daughter loves crab fishing so we started with that.
Here are some that we caught and released.
My daughter like me loves animals and insisted on holding them, they must have liked her too because they didn't nip her, only me while releasing them hehe.

We went to Trefor a small village with a harbour and beach in a lovely part of Wales, on the llyn peninsula.
It's actually quite a special place for my partner and I, it's the place we fell for each other.

When we arrived although it felt warm, the sea mist was in and made the mountains look quite eerie.

But it soon cleared here is my partner and daughter crab fishing over the harbour wall.

The mist heading out to sea and over the mountains.

When the mist cleared we were left with a sunny warm day to enjoy.

Boats down on the beach.

A tractor ready to pull in a returning fishing boat.

The magic pat, that makes the perfect sandcastle.

Beautiful scenery. Don't you just love the smell of the sea?

I've been making some draft excluders today for the craft sale.

Did I mention the craft sale is next weekend! I'm very nervous...just hope it goes well and makes some pennies for the charity.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments on the last post.
Hope that you have a lovely weekend what ever you're doing.

A Nomination...

I was so happy this week.
Firstly I arrived home from a lovely holiday engaged.
Then I received a nomination for a Liebster blog award from a very lovely lady indeed!

I make no secret that Joy's blog Joyjinkscreations is one of my favourite reads.
Joy's blog is full of wonderful things, things to inspire and enjoy. All the posts are amazingly well written and her sunny, friendly personality shines through all of them.

So I now need to think of some random facts about me. Hmm...

1, I'm a huge animal lover, I love nearly all animals and am fascinated by them. I have two cats and a hamster in the house at the moment. If it was up to me I would have a lot more!
2, You know I said I loved "nearly all animals"...well there's one that makes me screech and that's wasps. I cannot bear them.
3, I'm very shy and quiet.
4, I'm a trained nursery nurse.
5, I light a scented candle every night as it helps me to relax.
6, To me, home is definitely where the heart is.
7, Family is massively important to me. I am always at my happiest with my daughter, partner, parents and brother - all just spending time together and having a giggle.
8, I'm a huge worrier
9, I hate being centre of attention (might be a bit of a problem at our wedding next year)
10, I adore everything vintage.
11, My dream is to one day own a vintage VW camper van and travel round wherever the wind takes us.

My questions from Joy...

1  Who has influenced you most in your life?
The people who have influenced me most in my life are my parents.

2  If you could live anywhere else in the world, where would it be?
I'm not sure...maybe Italy because I love the culture and food!

3  If you went back to school what would you choose to study?
It would definitely be Art, it was the only subject I enjoyed at school and did well at.

4 Are you impulsive when making decisions or do you ponder things first?
Some decisions I ponder for a while, but most everyday decisions I try to make instinctively.

5  What is your food preference when you eat out?
Oh definitely Italian, I love pasta and fresh vegetables.

6  Looking at your average day, what do you enjoy best?
On an average day I enjoy our evening meal when everyone sits down together chatting and relaxing.

7  What gives you the least pleasure in your daily routine?
Washing up I can't bear it!

8  Is there a famous person that you would love to meet, and why?
I'd like to meet the comedian Steve Coogan because he seems like a really interesting and intelligent person.

9  Tell us about a favourite place in your locality that you like to visit.
One of my favourite places is the 'Panorama.' It's lovely to get out in the mountains and breath in the fresh, clean air. It's a great place for taking photos too.

10 If you were marooned on an island what would you choose to have with you?
Other than my family! I think it would have to be my best friend because we are always easy in each others company.

11 What is your favourite type of film?
I love a period drama where you can lose yourself in a story.

Silly me forgot to nominate ops!
I'd really like to nominate Jennifer at thistlebear I love reading Jennifer's varied and enlightening blog, some of her post have really touched my heart especially her post about her old friend Angus.
I've also noticed Jennifer has just over 200 followers but I thought maybe I'd be let off with that over sight :(
I'd like to add that there's no pressure to reply with a post, it does take a little time but I found it fun.
Also I hope Joy doesn't mind but if I could recycle her questions that would be great (pretty please)

Thank you so much for thinking of me.

There's No Place Like Home...

Hello to you!
We enjoyed a lovely week away with lots of happy times and memories to keep.
We went away as a family of 5 - my parents, partner, my daughter and I.

Being me, I noticed lots of unusual plants and flowers at the Villa garden.
Bottle brush plant here.

Not sure what this purple lovely is.

Orange pretty set off by the arid land.

The bees loved these tubular flowers.
One of my favourite places at the villa.

The garden was well kept and a real sun trap.

A view of mountains from the villa.

Here is the villa popping out from behind a huge bamboo screen.

My holiday crochet, I managed a bit of time with the hook.
We had some lovely days at the beach. Being pale I spent most of my time under the parasol.

My daughter playing in the sand.

Sunny feet and top-knot shadow!

My daughter was in her element with the sand and the sea. We bought snorkels and enjoyed watching the fish in the shallows. My daughter took to it straight away and mastered the breathing better than us.
Some of the insect-life at the villa was stunning and, to an animal lover like me, very interesting. I only managed to snap this huge butterfly and...

this mantis such a strange creature but absolutely fascinating.
It made me smiled to see this crochet blanket in the room my daughter stayed in (it was huge!) and would be lovely in chillier weather to snuggle under. Somebody (possibly my partner's late mother) obviously put a lot of love and hard work into making it.
All in all we had a wonderful holiday enjoyed by all 5 of us.
My daughter arrived home to find this massive marrow in her veg plot!
She calls it her fat bottom marrow!

I have news too!
On the third night of our holiday my partner and I had a night out together.
During a walk on a moonlit beach my partner proposed to me! So, my bloggy friends, I am delighted to tell you I am ENGAGED!!!
We are all very happy.
Thank you for all your lovely comments wishing me a nice holiday.
I hope I got back to you all in some way.
Look forward to catching up with all your blogs soon.
Now... back to washing the holiday clothes...
xx

I'm Leaving On a Jet Plane...

 Hello, hello.
How are you all?
Well I hope.
I'm off on holiday soon so I thought I'd write a quick post before I leave.
I've started another simple square blanket.
I thought it would be a nice easy project to take on holiday with me.
I've gone for a bluey colour scheme this time.
I little bit different for me as I usually have to have pink in it somewhere!

I've made a start.
I quite like the way its turning out so far.
I think I will enjoy hooking away on holiday.

I've also recently finished a bag for my craft sale in September.

It needs a good iron, but it will have to wait 'till I get back.
Well, again, thank you to the lovely people who commented on my last post, always lovely to hear from you!
Hope you all have a lovely week.
See you when I get back.
xx

Blanket Inspired By Nature

Hello, hello.
Here I am fastening off my third blanket.
Here it is finished. Hooray!
It was a lovely project and took no time at all.

I enjoyed using the bright cheery colours.

It's like one HUGE granny square!

All folded up neatly.

It's not a large blanket but it's big enough for shoulders or a lap.
I really did feel inspired by my mum's lovely posy of flowers from her garden.
I have found using nature for colour schemes very useful.
Thank you Joy for opening my eyes to it.
Hope you're all having a lovely week?
Thank you to all the lovely people who commented on my last post.
